These Chewy and Dense Brownies are all about the sugar, the butter, and the cocoa powder. Switching out the caster sugar with brown sugar makes the brownies extra chewy, dense, and super satisfying.
Ingredients:
- butter: 3/4 cups
- caster sugar (can also use brown sugar): 1 1/2 cups
- eggs (L): 3
- unsweetened cocoa powder: 1/2 -3/4
- flour: 3/4 cup
- baking powder: 1 teaspoon
- sour cream: 1/2 cup
- vanilla: 1 teaspoon
- salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Optional: M&M's to add brownie batter, powdered sugar for decoration
Steps to make chewy and dense brownies:
- Preheat oven to 375F, and butter the baking tin.
- In a large bowl whip the butter and sugar until it is light and creamy.
- Next, mix in the eggs one by one, making sure the butter mixture stays light and creamy. Then add in the sour cream, salt, vanilla, and mix well and then set the butter mixture aside.
- In a separate bowl sift the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder.
- Next, fold the flour mixture into the butter mixture until the batter is well blended and smooth.
- Pour the brownie batter into the baking tin and tap the sides of the baking tin to remove any air bubbles trapped in the batter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. And then cool the brownies on a rack for 10-15 minutes before removing it from the baking tin.
- Cut the brownies into even pieces and decorate with powdered sugar.
- The brownies taste better the next day, so if you have time prepare brownies the day before.
